Using the unique technology platform based on the membrane-type locally resonant acoustic metamaterials technology platform (Phys. Rev. Letters 101, 204301) developed by Prof. Zhiyu Yang at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Tranquility Acoustronics Limited, which is founded and lead by Prof. Yang, strives for providing practical, reliable, and affordable solutions for various noise mitigation needs in industry, residential units, commercial buildings, etc. We provide state-of-the-art design solutions and critical functional components based on the acoustic metamaterials to meet the needs where high noise insulation is required within limited space and accompanied by large air flow requirements, where the present technologies based on acoustic porous materials such as sponge and perforated plates cannot meet adequately, or high noise insulation with limited space and weight tolerance. Three major lines of products, namely the ventilation silencers, the lightweight sound insulation panels, and the lightweight sound insulation curtains, form the basis to face a large variety of stringent noise mitigation challenges and applications. The modular type metamaterials components provide flexible and practical solutions to reduce noise with various noise spectra and intensity far more efficiently than the present technologies, especially in the 50 - 500 Hz frequency range.
